Participants can join an exhibition tour highlighting the calligraphy in prayer carpets, and enjoy a presentation from master Arabic script calligrapher Mohamed Zakariya about his personal journey as an artist and the recent acquisition of his works by the The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and The Walters in Baltimore. Participants will also have time to reflect and ask questions about the relationship between spirituality and art.
11:00 – 11:40am: Educator-led discussion of the museum’s prayer carpet exhibition "Prayer and Transcendence" and the intimate space created by Anne Lindberg's "What color is divine light?" installation.
11:45am – 1:00pm: Participants will move to the Myers room (level 1) for further discussion and short presentations with Zakariya and calligraphy artists.
1:00 – 2:00: Break for lunch
